Your questions answered
How many days can I be signed off sick?
After reviewing your medical evidence, our doctors can provide up to 7 days of sickness leave with your certificate.
If you are still unwell after the initial 7-day period, you may apply for a further sickness certificate for additional leave.
What can I use a fit note for?
Our GP fit notes can be used for work, university, college, school or for travel as evidence of illness or a health condition.
As an online service, our Doctors are unfortunately unable to provide GP fit notes for any court related matter. We would recommend that you see your regular Doctor if a fit note is require for this purpose.
What information and medical evidence do you require from me?
After purchase, you will receive a unique certificate booking reference number, which will allow you to upload your medical evidence via a simple form.
To allow us to assess your condition and issue a medical certificate, we will require the following information:
- A photo of your passport, driving license or workplace, university or college ID
- Confirmation of when your sickness or condition started
- Whether your sickness is ongoing, or you are now recovered
- A 30-second to 1-minute video describing your symptoms
- Details of your regular GP (if you have one)
What the difference between fit note and a self certification?
A fit note details your health condition and ability to work and is issued by a UK Doctor. A self-certification is a short form you fill out for brief illnesses, up to 7 days. You can find the form for self-certification on the HMRC website.
Can't I get a sick note from my own NHS GP?
Yes. Sick notes can be provided by NHS GPs or Private GPs. They are provided for free by the NHS, however our service tends to be much quicker and does not require an appointment.
ZoomDoc is a private medical service employing NHS registered doctors who can assess your medical condition from a simple video uploaded to our site and issue your sick note within 2 hours.
Is this the same as an NHS Med3 Fit Note?
No. As a private UK doctor service the medical certificates we provide are not the same as NHS Med3 Fit Notes, which are only available from healthcare professionals delivering NHS services.
Who signs the certificate and how do I know it’s legitimate?
Once your medical evidence has been checked your certificate will be authorised and signed by one of our selected Doctors.
All our doctors are UK GPs registered with the GMC (General Medical Council) and work as GPs within the NHS.
Zoomdoc Health is an authorised medical provider regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Our contact details will be shown on your certificate with a QR code enabling a verification check of your certificate.
What happens if you cannot validate my medical evidence?
Our doctors thoroughly review your medical evidence and may call you if they have any questions.
If for any reason, we are unable to validate your evidence or are unable to supply you with you a certificate you will be notified and given a full refund.
