About this medical letter
Fit-to-cruise medical certificate
If you’re planning to take a voyage on a cruise ship to the Arctic or Antarctic, on an expedition, or if you are pregnant – you may require a fit-to-cruise certificate confirming that you are fit to travel.
Our doctors can provide you with a same-day medical certificate that will confirm you are in good health and have no conditions that should prevent travel. No appointment is needed – simply apply online.
What will I receive?
You will receive a verifiable digital PDF letter signed by a medical professional and sent directly to your mobile, containing the following details:
- Your name and date of birth.
- A statement confirming that you are in good health and fit to travel.
- Signature and authorisation by one of our GMC-registered UK doctors.
- Contact details of ZoomDoc Health with a QR code enabling a verification check.
Please note: Our fit-to-cruise medical certificate expires 90 days after the date of issue.
How does it work?
Here at ZoomDoc, we have revolutionised the process of getting a medical letter. Our online process allows our GMC-qualified UK doctors to check your symptoms without needing an appointment and to issue you with a digital PDF letter the same day.
Following the purchase of your fit-to-cruise medical certificate, you will be asked to upload medical evidence by completing a short online form and submitting a 30-second to 1-minute video explaining why you require this certificate and confirming that you are fit and well.
You will also be asked to upload your digital Summary Care Record, which details current and past medical health conditions, medications and immunisations. This can be accessed on request from your GP surgery, or via the NHS app (if linked with your surgery).
Your evidence is then reviewed by our doctors, prior to issuing you with your fit-to-cruise medical certificate. If our doctors have any further questions, they may give you a quick call.
Accepted worldwide, this digital PDF letter is signed by a UK-registered doctor and includes a QR code enabling verification.

”Our amazing 5-star Trustpilot reviews are testament to the high quality of service that our team of doctors provides. When heading off on certain cruise ships, there are some increased risks involved, especially if you are travelling to a remote location. Our team of doctors will review your medical information prior to providing a certificate of good health for your cruise ship adventure. In addition, our medical certificates all have QR codes, which makes it easy to confirm their validity when provided to your cruise ship or holiday company.“
