Cruising During Pregnancy

Most cruise lines allow travel during pregnancy up to a certain gestation, with the majority setting a cut-off at 24 weeks of pregnancy. Importantly, this limit usually applies to any point during the cruise, meaning you must not reach or exceed the cruise line’s maximum gestational age while on board. For example, Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Virgin Voyages, and Viking Cruises generally do not permit travel if a passenger has entered or will enter their 24th week of pregnancy during the voyage. Royal Caribbean International and P&O Cruises have slightly stricter policies, typically not permitting travel if a passenger will be more than 23 weeks pregnant at any stage of the cruise.

Many cruise operators also require written confirmation from a doctor or midwife stating the expected due date, confirming that the pregnancy is uncomplicated, and that the traveller is fit to sail. As policies can change, we recommend checking the requirements of your chosen cruise line well in advance of departure and ensuring you will remain within their gestational age limits for the entire duration of your trip.

What will I need to supply?

  • A 30-second to 1-minute video confirming any health conditions or concerns during your pregnancy
