If you have suffered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months (180 days) and plan to travel, you may require a medical certificate as evidence that you are fully recovered.
Our doctors can provide you with a same-day medical certificate confirming that your last positive COVID-19 test was more than 10 days ago, and you are now symptom-free and fit to travel. No appointment is needed – simply apply online.
What will I receive?
You will receive a verifiable digital PDF letter signed by a medical professional and sent directly to your mobile, containing the following details:
- Your name and sex, date of birth and date of assessment.
- Your passport number and unique certificate ID.
- Confirmation that your last positive COVID-19 test was more than 10 days ago, and the type of test taken (PCR or rapid lateral flow).
- Confirmation that you have had no COVID-19 symptoms in the last 72 hours and are fit to travel.
- Signature and authorisation by one of our GMC-registered UK doctors.
- Contact details of ZoomDoc Health with a QR code enabling a verification check.
Important – Which countries can I use this certificate for?
The list of countries which require a COVID-19 recovery certificate for entry can change frequently. Prior to purchasing a COVID-19 recovery certificate, please check that your airline or destination country will accept it, as this is entirely at their discretion. Some countries do not accept private healthcare recovery certificates, and our QR code cannot be uploaded to some overseas apps*.

What will I need to supply?
To allow us to assess your condition and issue a medical certificate, we will require the following information:
- A photo of your passport
- A positive COVID-19 PCR or rapid lateral flow test result
- Your completed online medical form
- Details of your regular NHS GP (if you have one)
When can I purchase a certificate?
You can purchase a ZoomDoc COVID-19 recovery certificate if you have had a positive COVID-19 test result between the last 10 days and 180 days. You must be free of all symptoms for 3 days before applying.
We can accept international and private test results; we also accept NHS test results via app notification, email, or SMS. (Please note that we are unable to accept a photo of a test cassette as evidence.)

What will happen after I purchase a COVID-19 recovery certificate for travel?
After purchase, we will provide you with your unique certificate booking reference number, which will allow you to upload your medical evidence.
Once uploaded, our doctors will review your evidence on the same day (between 9am and 9pm GMT, 7 days a week) – they may call you if they have any questions.
Once validated, we will send your COVID-19 recovery certificate to you by email and SMS.
What medical evidence do I require?
We will require you to:

I do not live in the UK – can I still purchase a COVID-19 recovery certificate for travel?
Yes – we provide doctor's signed recovery certificates for patients internationally.
You do not need to live in the UK, or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK, to apply for this recovery certificate.
However, our team will require verifiable evidence in order to validate your certificate.
Can I use a UK NHS lateral flow test result as evidence?
Yes – we accept positive lateral flow results supplied by the NHS as evidence, via the NHS app notification, email or SMS; we also accept international and private test results.
However, we are unable to accept a photo of a test cassette as evidence.
When am I eligible for a COVID-19 recovery certificate for travel?
You may apply for a COVID-19 recovery certificate if you have had a positive COVID-19 test result between the last 10 days and 180 days.
You are able to apply and upload your evidence prior to 10 days, but your certificate will only be sent to you on day 10.
Why are there QR codes on medical letters?
Our medical letters have QR codes that can be scanned to verify the document's authenticity.
Once scanned, your personal online results portal is loaded, from where your medical letter can be reviewed and personal details confirmed.
Please note: Our QR codes may not be readable by the EU Covid Pass app, as well as other apps used by specific countries.
When will I receive my COVID-19 recovery certificate for travel?
Our team will review your evidence and provide you with your COVID-19 recovery certificate on the same day, WITHIN 2 HOURS from when your evidence was uploaded (between 9am and 9pm GMT, 7 days a week).
Who signs the COVID-19 recovery certificate for travel?

For how long will my COVID-19 recovery certificate be valid?
Your COVID-19 recovery certificate will be valid for up to 180 days from the date of your first positive test result – after 180 days it will automatically expire.
Some countries only accept recovery certificates dated from within 90 days of arrival, so please check prior to travelling.
Can I travel to the USA with a COVID-19 recovery certificate?
Thousands of patients have travelled to the USA with a ZoomDoc Health COVID-19 recovery certificate.
Entry requirements changed in late 2022 on the CDC website and it is unclear if a recovery certificate is now accepted. Non US citizens must be fully vaccinated or have a vaccine exemption certificate.

However, please check the requirements of your destination country, as young children may not always need a COVID-19 recovery certificate to travel.
VeriFly: Pre-Check
The VeriFly pre-check-in upload of recovery certificates is temperamental, which means certificates can't always be uploaded. This is the case for all privately-supplied COVID-19 recovery certificates.
Nonetheless, our recovery certificates are accepted at airport check-in desks for travel to all destinations that accept doctor-signed, QR-coded COVID-19 recovery certificates.
Do you provide a refund if my COVID-19 recovery certificate is not accepted by an airline?
We only provide full refunds if we are unable to provide a medical certificate for any reason.
Once our doctors have provided a medical certificate, we are unable to provide a refund.
